I can feel another irritation coming on. I've heard about election fever, however I can sense alot of election apathy. Many people simply don't feel there is any party that truly represents them. Many people can't be bothered.
I feel I should vote Green, yet I know that in our constituency there is so little chance of the Green candidate being elected. The environment has to be top of our list of concerns. Has anyone else noticed how few insects are around? In the garden, on the hills? When did you last hear a grass hopper?
I can't bring myself to vote for the two main parties, however much they promise. Tax Cuts! How can the country afford tax cuts? We need to spend more on the NHS, on education, on social care and housing, on roads, the list goes on. How can we spend more if we don't have the income? Debt. We really need some honesty here.
I'm also alarmed by the number of people on Facebook that think Reform is the answer to our problems. Geesh, in my opinion they are just the beginning. Remember UKIP, remember the BNP. Are these the same people that bought us out of Europe? That worked well. Remember that bus with the huge sum that could be given to the NHS? Please, please, don't fall for that again. Without the obvious leanings to the far right, I don't believe they are the answer. Please, do some research.
Thursday is decision day. Candidates are, no doubt, frantically campaigning. Sadly, some voters are reading memes. Following the opinions of others, people they haven't heard of before, let alone met. Choosing the party that seems the most attractive to them. We Oldies are often laughed at but many of us feel we've seen it all before, or worse our parents have.
I've just finished binge watching A Small Light, based on a true story. The main character, Miep, didn't believe her country would be invaded by Nazis, she thought they were safe in their own little neutral borders. The wonderful thing about the story was the determination of Miep, and others to try to do what was right. It's what we should all be determined to do now.
On a much lighter note, my Adamts13 has risen above 100 again. That's something to be immensely grateful for. It's a reprieve.
The garden is blooming, although lacking in insects. My hope is that everything will improve and summer will bring not only good weather, but good sense and positive decisions.
Please research before you tick.
July, and our beautiful Hydrangea has come into flower.
This journal began as my reminders of mindfulness. This week, it's being well and truly tested 🤔😉. (Until I watched Coldplay at Glastonbury, they set my world the right way up 😘)
