Our May 2024 Garden and No Mow May

My latest Adamts13 result has come back at 97.  It's just a tad lower than the previous test and nothing to worry about.  Of course,  I don't know if its just a small fall or a bounce but it's probably best not to over think this.  It's best just to be thankful ❤️. We've been away for a week, visiting younger family members.  Always a joy, hard work, but fun and we both come home with smiles on our faces and happy memories 😊.  It was a treat and we look forward to going again soon. In the meantime,  our garden has gone wild.  No Mow May may be a real thing, but living just below fields grazed by sheep means a constant supply of seeds in the wind.  It's not just the lawn that is blooming wild, but flower beds and pots too! In an effort to get things just a little under control the lawn has been divided into two parts; mown and non mown.  With the fields and with half no mown, we hope it's a happy medium.  Maybe it's better to have a...

Short Walks

There's yet another weather warning for this afternoon!  This time it's for rain and thunder, no sign just yet ☔️🌩. We had breakfast in the garden for the first this year, which reminds me, we need to do some rearranging to make things more comfy.   It's relaxing to watch the fish and wildlife,  more birds this year than I can remember,  but I'm finding our picnic bench more and more difficult.  I prefer a chair with a back to it and cushions 😅. With weather warnings on our mind we decided to walk first thing.  I'm trying to keep my exercise levels up, but it's not easy.  Still feeling breathless and although I have a suspicion that the AF is playing more a part than I had previously considered,  on top of the recent infection, its floored my energy levels.  I'm determined not to give in though,  so we headed down to the seafront where its flat. The tide was high, and the harbour always looks more attractive when the b...

Finding The Right Balance

For a while now I have wanted to walk through the woods and listen for cuckoos.   I swear I heard them when we walked in Lockdown,  but I've not heard one since.  Perhaps it's too late in the year now.  They say the first cuckoo is a sign of spring.  My other half says maybe I heard a cuckoo impersonator 🤷‍♀️😁. We drove to the end of Hill Road and parked our Bongo on the gravel,  enjoying the view.  It's like being on top of the world!  Literally!  North Hill is so restorative.   There are many benches,  and a maze of pathways.   This time we had remembered our map and set off down towards the trees.  We took a slightly different route to our usual one.  We've learnt from experience that there is a tricky,  slippery,  slope at a certain point and we thought it best to avoid it.  With so much rain,  we weren't sure just how difficult it might be. ...

A Gentle Stroll for Wellbeing

I must be on the up because I'm just beginning to climb the walls.  The weather so far this week has been wet, wet, wet.  Again!  Is this climate change?  Is this our weather,  forever?  No wonder there are so many horrible viruses around. I have had rest days.   It's 1st May today and these last few months have been my least active since my TTP episode.  I've read, watched TV, finished some sewing projects, napped.  All indoors, sitting, blanket on my knees.   I mean, I know I'm a Nanna, but goodness I've felt my age.  I do feel better, the back pain is gone and at last I do feel able to crack on.  A friend phoned and asked if I was well enough for a gentle walk.  I couldn't refuse.  This morning is the first without bad weather,  no rain, no wind, still no sun but the temperature has risen a few degrees.  It was warm enough to walk.  There's a weather warning for tonight,  more rain and...
