Stretching Our Legs at Dunster Castle Gardens

The weather has changed.  The rain has stopped and the cold air has set in.  I'm a chilly person at best of times, and although I appreciate the dry, I'm really not fond of the cold!  I do believe in the saying,  'There's no such thing as the wrong weather, just wrong clothing'.  However,  the cold does get into my bones and I don't like it.

Anyway,  I haven't walked very much these last few days, I've stayed in the warm, although I've caught up on a lot of jobs.   We've put foil behind our radiators, changed the layout of the lounge,  dusted!  Dusting doesn't happen very often!  I've tended the houseplants.  And I've sneezed!  Alot!

My neighbour insists it will snow next week.  So, with a need to stretch my legs, my back aches, and get out for some fresh air, we decided to walk in Dunster Castle Gardens today.  The car park was full, clearly many other people had the same idea.  The Castle is built on a tor, so steep paths are involved.   It's a good place to exercise and with dry routes it's a nice change to just walking down to the town.

Today, we wandered.  We found paths we have missed previously and steps and routes we hadn't taken before.  I felt like a child exploring the grounds for the first time, and I was not disappointed.   It was good to be out.

No sitting here!

Looking up!

Welcoming benches, but too cold to linger today.

I had a new hat for Christmas.  Its snug, it keeps my head and ears warm.  It flattens my hair.  Once it's on, it stays on!

A view to Lovers Bridge

Plenty of steps for exercise!

Following different pathways.

Finally, the Dragon!

Stay warm and well! ❤️

Oh no, Vertigo!

After my previous post, about how I like to keep moving, I had a dose of Vertigo!  Definitely no moving here for a couple of days! I woke early and simply rolled over in bed.  It was enough to make my world spin.  I had to wake my other half and ask for help.  To eat my own words, I spent almost the entire day laying perfectly still, in bed, with my head raised on pillows.  To move even an inch bought on extreme nausea.   Thankfully,  over the last couple of days, normal service has been resumed.   Just tired. Thankfully,  I had my blood tested last week and have had no emergency phone calls.  Still waiting on the Adamts 13 test result but its imminent. TTP has crossed my mind and without these tests I would be asking for help and advice.  After 10 years of TTP experience I feel confident.  I hope I'm right.   I've not been far from home though.   A walk down to the town and back home has been enough today.   We did pop into Blenheim Gardens Cafe, a few other hardy seniors were

Keep Moving!

We've had a mini break, just over the county border, with one night away 😀.   It proves you don't have to go far, sit in airports, or queue.  You don't have to spend mega amounts. You can fit a lot in, and have a great time.   I've had holidays out of a suitcase in the past.  Travelling across the USA and China were both amazing, but I don't want to do either again.  Now, I would choose somewhere to get some sunshine,  relax and enjoy the views, or just travel the least distance 😉.  Barnstaple is not a pretty town.  Its maybe typical of places that have seen good times and are now struggling.  It is trying though and there were signs of investment.  The main shopping area has most things you need, though the larger supermarkets are of course out of town.  It was good for us to stroll around,  the Pannier Market has had glass doors added, making it look more contemporary,  and a few hardy stall holders were inside. Butchers Row looks lively again and we found a qui

Bossington Beach and Saltmarsh

Despite having a horrible virus, and feeling complete crap, my Adamts13 has thankfully remained  above 103!  Phew, time to celebrate.   I had prepared myself for a fall.  TTP is still taking me by surprise.   I'm grateful for the blood tests, and for the care I'm given. We woke to sunshine and because it can vanish behind clouds in the wink of an eye, we quickly gathered some bits and drove to Bossington.  Bossington is NT and has a good car park (daily charges apply).  It can get busy but there is an overflow,  which is actually so much nicer for picnics,  on grass and under blossom.   It's really pretty.   We find the footpaths a bit of a maze.  Some are hedged, and you can easily take a turn inland when you want the beach, but it's worth exploring.  There are plenty of signposts and once on the Marsh you can see for miles.   You can climb up through Allerford Woods, or just just stay on the flat.   We chose the flat today ☺️.
