Porlock to Porlock Weir, Circular Walk.

We walked with friends today, from Porlock to Porlock Weir and returned via the Saltmarsh.  They are good friends,  who have been enormously supportive.   We all agree that keeping fit is a must, and we all love to walk 😊.

Parking by the Village Hall we followed the road for a short distance until a track branched off to the right.  Following the path, you walk through the woods, quite muddy at the moment and good waterproof boots are a must.  It was quite dank today, conkers littered the path but leaves are still clinging to the trees.  All that rain has doing something!

The view, in places, is amazing.   I often find when I'm walking on rough tracks that I watch my feet more than my surroundings.  It's important you stop to look around you, and it's a great excuse to just take a moment.   There are slopes to climb!

View over to Bossington Beach.

The bridge makes the path easier on very wet days!

Coming out onto the lane, we followed the signposts to the toll road, leading into Porlock Weir.

There are places to eat and drink, shops, artist studios and of course a small harbour.  It's definitely worth exploring and a having a good wander around.

The Harbour

If you take your own picnic there are benches,  or like us, you can find a spot on the beach.

Enjoying the view, and calmness of the moment 😊

We all agree that a circular walk is the way to go and so we set off along the beach towards Bossington.   You can see that the storms have had an affect on the shingle!

This signpost is disappearing!

Turning slightly inland we found the Marsh well and truly watered.  I wished I had my  poles but managed to navigate the soggiest bits.

We did find our way easily, keeping the Saltmarsh to our left we passed the memorial to the American Airmen whose planes crashed on this Marsh.

The Saltmarsh, samphire and stunted tree trunks.

There are signposts for the SWCP, Bossington and Porlock.   We returned to Porlock at this point, cake and a cup of tea beaconed πŸ˜‰.

We were lucky with weather,  only a few spots rain, despite a huge black cloud, and a good amount of sunshine on a still day.  I feel slightly pink, I should have taken a hat!

Number of steps throughout the day, 14,490!  πŸ₯ΎπŸ₯Ύ
